Irve Charles Boldman prominent San Diego attorney and well known Southern California horseman, saddened a multitude of friends in the Golden State, when it was learned that he passed away suddenly, following a heart attack at his home in San Diego on January 14. His demise removes from the southland scene another stalwart Tournament of Roses figure. On January first he had completed 16 consecutive years of parading in this famous Pasadena classic; twelve of them with his wife Bessie, two with his granddaughter Carol Sumner, and finally in 1971 he rode with an old friend of the family, Margie Turner of El Cajon. An avid horseman who loved Palominos and parades, Irve Boldman was a fixture on the California and Arizona parade, scene. His wife Bessie and two granddaughters, Patty Sumner Keith and Carol Sumner, were his constant companions in over 30 parades. Two beautifully matched Golden Palominos with flowing manes and tails, (registered in PHBA) were the special mounts of Irve and Bessie Boldman. Matching sterling silver saddles with intricate designs and trappings and fairyland costumes worn by this couple brought many plaudits from the spectators who thrilled to the magnificence of horse and rider. One of the proud moments in the life of Irve Boldman was his association with Titanic, famous champion Palomino stallion which he rode for more than three years. Titanic, like his Harvester and Top Hat predecessors, had an enviable reputation as the sire of very fine Palomino horses. He was formerly owned by the late Glen O. Perkins of El Cajon, California, renowned Palomino breeder. A San Diego resident of 52 years, Irve was a native of Earl Park, Indiana. Heeding Horace Greeley's advice, the Boldman family moved to Dayton, Washington where Irve spent much of his boyhood. In 1918 he married his girlhood sweetheart, Bessie "Bobbie" Bishop, who survives him. Also in the category are two daughters, Mrs Geraldine Rost of San Diego and Mrs. Norma Pyle of Sharpes, Flordia; six grandchildren and one great granddaughter. Equestrain Irve C. Boldman had a very interesting and colorful career. After serving in World War One as Chief Boatswain's mate, he ended eight years of service by enrolling in a correspondence of law course. He became interested in law while in the Navy and upon completion of his law course he became a law clerk in the office of the late Curtis Hilyer. Admitted to practice in 1925 he subsequently became a partner in the firm. Up to the time of his death Mr. Boldman was legal counsel and vice president of the separate corporations that make up the John P. Scripps newspapers in the United States. Masonic services were held on January 18 at Bonham Brothers Mortuary. Interment was in Mount Hope Cemetery, San Diego.

!OBITUARY: Bob Boleman was born in Dayton, Washington in 1923 to Raymond and Nellie Boldman. He graduated from high school in Walla Walla and met and married Pearl N. Dotson (Kim). Bob and Kim moved to Seattle and started their family of five children: The Children are; Stella (Mark) Gausman; Robert R. (Jane) Boldman Jr. Laura (Dan) Jacoby; Gary Boldman; Debbie (Eddie) Ahuna. Bob was a creative photographic artist with a strong interest in technology. When Bob was a young man he made his first camera and started taking photographs. This was the beginning of a fifty-year career in photography that lasted until his first stay in a hospital this year. Bob was fascinated by modern technology and as a young 79 year old took classes and taught him self the techniques of computerized digital photography. During his life, Bob owned and operated several portrait photography studios in the Seattle area. The Robert Lee Studio in Stoneway was first, followed by the Robert Lee Studio Greenlake and then Boldman Portraits of Northgate. During his life Bob took portrait photographs and school photos of thousands of Seattle citizens. Later in his life Bob fulfilled his dream of living in Hawaii where he continued his career in professional photography taking portrait photographs of island local and tourists in some of the most beautiful surroundings in the world. Bob returned to Seattle about three years ago where he rekindled old friendship and established many new ones. He was active in civic and professional organizations; with a long association with the Seattle Professional Photographers Association, Norhtgate Rotary, Kailua Rotary, Lake City Elks BPOE No 1800, and the Masons. A young 80 year old, Bob passed away Monday, October 27, 2003 and is survived by his brother Dick of Walla Walla, his sister LaVerna Lynn of Beaverton Oregon. Bob was proceeded in death by his brother Larry of Pasco Washington. He leaves behind his wife Kim, five children, eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Bob will be missed. We now realize the strength of his sprit and courage and zest for life. We can only hope to follow in his footsteps.
